Capstone

Near the end of their Professional Semester, all teacher candidates return to SIUC, or to their off-campus center, to present the Teacher Education Program (TEP) Capstone Portfolio. These 45-minute individual interviews with two or three TEP faculty facilitators are called the “TEP Capstone Presentations” or “Capstones.”

The TEP Capstone Portfolio is an electronic portfolio. Its outline is a holistic framework of reflection upon the central issues of teaching and learning, aligned with reflective writing required of candidates at earlier levels in the TEP. The portfolio involves process as well as a product; candidates create a meaningful record of their performance during their Professional Semester and engage in ongoing reflection while applying their new teaching skills.
